Rapel Valley
92% Sauvignon Blanc from Las Kuras Vineyard and 8% Semillón from old vines from Apalta Vineyard
2009 was a year of sun with a dry spring and summer. With outstanding health conditions, we harvested our Sauvignon Blanc at the perfect ripening point, 2 weeks earlier than usual, by mid February.
There is a key difference in 2009: 100% of our Sauvignon Blanc from Las Kuras was hand-harvested at night. This allowed us to enhance the fruit and the freshness of the wine (in addition to saving cooling energy at the cellar). At this point of the process, we do all we can to preserve this fruit and acidity. Natural decantation in tanks, slow and low temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks and 4 months of ageing in lees. We added an 8% of Semillon coming from old vines of Apalta: the result is more complexity in the nose and a rounder mid palate, to produce a very charming wine with crisp acidity and intense flavors.
Color: Delicate light yellow color with lime green hints.Nose: Expressive and fresh nose with sweet citrus fruit, white flowers, pears and nectarine with touches of lychee.Palate: Fresh mouth feel with a very nice palate. Notes of minerality at the finish.Service and Food Pairing: Perfect for fresh vegetable salads, sea food and appetizers. Serve well chilled from 6 to 8° C (42°F to 46°F).
